Safran prepares new plant in Chihuahua

CHIHUAHUA, CHIH - Safran announced the opening of a new plant in the municipality of Chihuahua, which has required an investment of 6 million euros, and will generate more than 225 direct jobs and 67 indirect jobs.

The project was announced during the Farnborough International Airshow 2024. The new plant, dedicated to the production of aerospace components, will begin operations in 2025, and is located in the Supra Industrial Park operated by Safran Aerosystems.

The Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development of Chihuahua (SIDE) highlighted that the inauguration represents a significant step in the company's commitment to job creation in the state, since with this construction, Safran will have 12 plants in the city of Chihuahua, which currently employ around 8,000 collaborators, more than half of the Safran Group's employees in the country.

The announcement was made in the presence of Ulises Fernández, head of SIDE; Sébastien Weber CEO of Safran Aerosystems, Alejandro Cardona, CEO of Safran Mexico and Jorge Acosta, General Manager of Safran Aerosystems in Chihuahua.

During the meeting, the importance of this new industrial facility was highlighted as the opening of the plant is a testament to the joint effort between the public and private sectors to promote economic growth and job creation in Mexico.

“Safran Aerosystems' new plant is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and meets the highest standards of quality and sustainability, ensuring efficient and environmentally responsible production,” said Jorge Acosta, CEO of the campus.

Acosta explained that as part of the commitment to social responsibility, 1,190 solar panels will be installed, equivalent to a reduction of 585.5 tons of CO2 per year.

Activities at Safran Aerosystems Chihuahua Plant 6 will include the production of evacuation systems (around 60 percent) and seat components (30 percent).

Alejandro Cardona, reaffirmed the Group's commitment to sustainable economic development, job creation and community support through support activities aligned with the company's social commitment pillars.
