STATE OF MEXICO — The International Airport of Santa Lucia (AISL) will have a cargo and customs terminal for import and export of merchandise by air.

A study conducted by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat), indicates that the facilities for handling, control, access and exit of the cargo will be located in the southeast area of the airport’s civil zone.

It is important to mention that this cargo aircraft operation model is similar to the one currently being operated at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) since the parking area will be located on an open platform in front of the customs and storage building.

Construction works will begin in the middle of 2019's fourth quarter and they are expected to be completed by the end of 2021's first quarter. It is forecasted an investment of US$165, which will be allocated to infrastructure and equipment.
