Sheinbaum announces measures for the agricultural sector

As part of the National Water Program for Rural Areas, in southern Sonora, president Claudia Sheinbaum announced a series of measures to stabilize corn prices, addressing both production and marketing.
Sheinbaum explained that a joint working group is being proposed, involving all sectors related to corn, to drive down the prices of seeds, inputs, and the final retail price; this will include producers from the Bajio region, Chihuahua, and Sonora.
She also inaugurated the first phase of the Navojoa Main Canal and issued 30 water concession titles. She explained that 250,000 hectares will be modernized over the course of her six-year term and detailed that the investment amounts to US$378 million. And for the state of Sonora, an investment of US$4.075 billion is being allocated to 15 priority water projects in the country.
He also noted that more than US$3.493 billion in direct support for the agricultural sector is planned, through programs such as free fertilizers, “Produccion para el Bienestar,” and “Sembrando Vida.”
