Volkswagen’s Puebla assembly plant is already in the tooling process to build the new T Roc compact SUV, which was revealed in Frankfurt early this year, Mexican automotive news site Al Volante reported citing unnamed sources.

According to Al Volante sources, there’s several changes going on at the Puebla facility, Volkswagen’s biggest assembly plant outside Germany.

For starters, it’s only a matter of weeks for the first T Roc pre-production prototypes to roll out of the plant. The production model will be present again at Los Angeles Auto Show by early December, where VW will confirm its arrival to the U.S. market, said Al Volante.

Also, production of the Beetle is scheduled to cease by the end of this year. Arguably this closure will help to increase output capacity for the all-new Tiguan.

Meanwhile, the facility is already assembling the new Jetta A7 whose arrival to showrooms across North America is scheduled by the first quarter of 2018.

However, the downside of these changes going on at the Volkswagen’s Mexican facility concerns to the production of the VW Golf family, which is expected to end by 2019 in order to be consolidated in Germany as requested by the Wolfsburg auto workers union. It’s still unclear what model will replace the Golf in those production lines.
