Spain-based Acciona builds 306 MW wind farm for Ener AB in Tamaulipas

Spain-based energy infrastructure developer Acciona revealed it has been commissioned to build a 306 MW wind farm for Ener AB, a joint venture by Mexican conglomerate Grupo Bal and U.S. energy firm AES Corporation.
The project, named Mesa la Paz, will be located in the town of Llera de Canales, in northeastern Tamaulipas, near the Gulf of Mexico. The amount of investment allocated was not disclosed.
Acciona will be in charge of the BOP (Balance of Plant); that is, the auxiliary systems required for proper operation of the plant, including primarily civil engineering, medium-voltage grid installation and electrical wiring.
Danish manufacturer Vestas will supply the 85 turbines required for the project. The wind farm will supply clean, sustainable energy to nearly 580,000 homes.
The turbines will be sourced from a manufacturing facility also located in Tamaulipas operated by Arizona-based TPI Composites, which recently expanded a production agreement with Vestas.
