Spain-based X-Elio FV to develop US$ 97.5 million solar plant in Northern Mexico
Mexico’s Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) announced it has awarded Spain-based X-Elio FV a contract to develop a US$ 97.5 million photovoltaic power plant in the Northern state of Chihuahua.
The facility will be located in the municipality of Ascension, which borders the state of New Mexico, with an 80 MW capacity for an annual 183.8 GWh output.
X-Elio was awarded after CRE officials approved, in an extraordinary general assembly, four contract revocations to equal number of companies which failed to pay the proper rights and licenses in order to operate in the Mexican energy market.
Officials discussed five cases, however, Generadora Hidroelectrica de Chiapas managed to keep its contract after company representatives proved payments have been made.
Names for the four companies which lost their contracts remain undisclosed.
No official statement on the matter has been released by X-Elio.
X-Elio, formerly known as Gestamp Solar, is a global developer and operator of solar photovoltaic plants which changed its name in February 2016 following the completion of KKR’s acquisition of an 80% stake in the business.
