Sulzer Switzerland expands in the State of Mexico

STATE OF MEXICO - With an investment of US$7.1 million, the Swiss company Sulzer started up its new vertical hydraulic pump factory in Cuautitlán Izcalli, State of Mexico.

From this headquarters, equipment for the operation of power generation plants, mainly hydroelectric, will be sent to the industry and to the state-owned company.

In addition, it will continue to supply the extraction, treatment and transportation of hydrocarbons and their derivatives in the country.

The 1,400-square-meter, state-of-the-art facility will operate with large horizontal and vertical pumps as an extension to the 40-year-old factory.

"We chose Mexico for three reasons: the highly qualified labor force, the work environment that allows us to form clusters and the geographical advantage of maritime connection and proximity to the U.S. market that the country has," Suzanne Thoma, Sulzer's global president, told El Economista.

It is worth mentioning that the company currently manufactures horizontal pumps in Mexico, so this innovative infrastructure stands out for expanding its capacity with two new pits to produce vertical pumps.
