Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze opens US$ 17 million plant in Puebla

Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze opens US$ 17 million plant in Puebla

German auto supplier Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze (SEBN), a subsidiary of Japan-based Sumitomo Electric Industries, opened earlier this week a production facility in Puebla to manufacture harnesses.

The plant, located in the municipality of Atlixco, was built in just six months and required a US$ 17.6 million investment to start operations.

Company officials revealed this endeavor created 400 direct jobs in its first stage but the figure will triple over the next years if everything goes according as planned.

This is SEBN second manufacturing site in Mexico. The company operates another facility in the neighbor state of Tlaxcala. Production from the Puebla facility will be destined to Ford Motor Company, said Sumitomo executives at the opening ceremony.
