With a US$ 8.5 million investment, Komax, a Swiss manufacturer of machines for wire processing technology, started operations at the Castro del Rio industrial park in the Municipality of Irapuato, Guanajuato.

The company will be dedicated to the production of electromechanical equipment and systems for the testing of wire harnesses mainly for the automotive sector, but also for other industries.

With its operation, one hundred direct, highly specialized jobs will be generated, since it requires engineers and technicians in electronics, mechanics, mechatronics, with skills in computer-aided design and manufacturing management and machining operations with numerical control centers.

According to Franco Herrera Sanchez, Undersecretary of Foreign Investment for the state government, Guanajuato competed with Queretaro and San Luis Potosi states for this investment, but it was finally in Irapuato where the company found the competitive advantages its executives were looking for.

Some of Komax customers in Mexico are Delphi, Condumex, Lear, Sumitomo, Fujikura, Kromberg & Schubert, among others.
