Tamaulipas strengthens its commercial relationship with China
TAMAULIPAS - The Secretary of Energy Development of Tamaulipas, José Ramón Silva, signed a letter of intent with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPTI) of Guangzhou, China, to strengthen the state's collaboration with Asia.
The meeting, held at the CCPTI facilities and attended by the Consul General of Mexico in Guangzhou, People's Republic of China, Julian Adem, represents a historic step for Tamaulipas to have a commercial ally for the North Port and strategic energy projects.
The general director of the Port Authority, Yuan Yue, stressed that they intend to cooperate and promote a friendly collaboration between ports (Guangzhou and the Port of Matamoros).
“We intend to cooperate and I am very happy to promote this collaboration with friendly ports. We conduct preparation and technical courses for ports in more than 20 countries, and we would like to collaborate more with ports in Mexico,” Yue said.
The Secretary of Energy Development, José Ramón Silva, highlighted the opportunity presented by the North Port due to its strategic position and being able to have this approach with the CCPTI.
“Tamaulipas is one of the most important states in Mexico, and the North Port is shaping up to be the most important port in the country, due to its investment opportunity and its strategic position with the neighboring country. We want to bring this investment and this technology of how the ports of Guangzhou work,” commented Silva.
The letter of intent will serve to coordinate a brotherhood between ports, as well as to establish a future meeting and formalize an agreement or collaboration to be port trade allies.
