Techint inaugurates US$ 1 billion power plant in Nuevo Leon
Italian-Argentine conglomerate Techint opened a US$ 1 billion combined-cycle power plant in Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon. The facility will supply 900 MW to the company’s production sites established in the region.
The Project was developed by four Techint subsidiaries, Ternium, a 9,000-employees steelmaker; Tecpetrol, Techint’s oil and drilling branch; Tenaris Tamsa, one of the biggest oil pipeline manufacturer in the world and 5,000 workers; and Techint Ingenieria y Construccion, the firm’s construction arm.
The power plant will use just a third of water compared to a same-size conventional facility and has capacity to supply power for 40% of Nuevo Leon state.
Exceeding capacity will be added to the national power grid and sold to other companies in an open market scheme.
