Thyssenkrupp strengthens its presence in nearshoring

thyssenkrupp Materials Services announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Aceroteca Trading, a company specializing in the processing and service center operations for flat-rolled carbon steel, located in Santa Catarina, within the Monterrey metropolitan area in Nuevo Leon. The transaction represents an important step toward strengthening thyssenkrupp Materials Services’ presence in North America and supports its customers’ growing localization and nearshoring strategies.

The acquisition provides thyssenkrupp Materials Services with a modern and scalable processing platform in one of Mexico’s leading manufacturing hubs: the Santa Catarina service center improves proximity to customers, enables local processing, reduces delivery times, and optimizes supply chain solutions. Currently, Aceroteca serves industries such as heating and air conditioning, as well as power transmission. In addition, it offers significant available capacity for thyssenkrupp Materials Services to serve both new and existing customers in the region.

The transaction combines Aceroteca’s entrepreneurial culture and extensive knowledge of the local market with thyssenkrupp Materials Services’ global strength in sourcing, its processing expertise, and its strong, long-term relationships with customers and suppliers. Although the initial focus will remain on flat-rolled carbon steel products, the acquired infrastructure offers the potential for future expansion into additional product categories.
