The tire industry in Mexico expects to raise its production by a 5% rate, to achieve a historical production record of 31.3 million units.

Likewise, the Goodyear plant in San Luis Potosi, will start operations in April, with investment valued at US$550 million, in order to produce 6 million tires annually.

Pirelli is planning to open its second plant in Silao, Guanajuato, midway along 2017, with a US$200 million capital investment; while Michelin expects to open its second plant in Leon in late 2018, investing US$510 million to manufacture 5 million extra tires.
