Tlaxcala opens first Development Hub

The Tlaxcala state government officially inaugurated the country’s first Economic Development Hub: an industrial project that reached full occupancy before its grand opening and is projected to attract more than US$500 million in investment and create approximately 5,000 jobs.

The complex began with a 53-hectare site, to which an additional 7.8 hectares were later added, bringing the total to 60 hectares, all of which have been fully leased.

Among the companies that have already secured space within the park are Grupo Cana, Geometrika 1000, Rebelbox, Color Link, Gravity, El Charrito, and Sonavox; with spaces ranging from 10,000 square meters to more than 20 hectares.

Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard explained that the hub will host companies from various sectors, including automotive, food, and metalworking, with participation from both domestic and foreign capital.

“This is a national strategic vision aimed at creating jobs and attracting investment. Without this scheme, these investments likely would not be in Tlaxcala,” he noted.

The Huamantla project thus becomes the first completed initiative under the Economic Development Hubs scheme, in a context where various entities are competing to attract investments linked to trends such as nearshoring.
