Toyota plant in Mexico developing in the Bajio, despite “swerving”

The change of plans in Toyota, now to produce pick-ups instead of light cars at the new plant in Guanajuato, will generate new auto part investment at the Bajio region. This is due to the arrival of firms specialized in producing pieces for pick-ups that were not in the zone. The operations at the Guanajuato plant will start in 2020. The upward trend in the demand for these units in the North American market prompted the Company to produce the Tacoma model instead of Corolla. Toyota also has presence in other States in Mexico. For instance, the capacity of production is being expanded at the Baja California plant, to reach 160,000 units per year, by the end of this year.
