U.S. Consul General Meets with Maru Campos

CHIHUAHUA - The Consul General of the United States in Ciudad Juarez, Rafael Foley, made his first visit to the city of Chihuahua, to hold a series of meetings aimed at getting to know the authorities and citizens of the state. 

During the visit, Consul General Rafael Foley participated in a meeting with the Governor of Chihuahua, María Eugenia Campos Galván, where issues related to cooperation and exchange of information on security, migration, justice and other issues of binational interest were discussed. 

The meeting was also attended by the Attorney General, César Jáuregui Moreno, the Secretary of Public Security, Gilberto Loya Chávez and the Secretary General of Government, Santiago de la Peña Grajeda.

The governor and the diplomat agreed to maintain constant communication between the United States and Chihuahua, with the objective of working together to solve the most pressing problems.

They also agreed to continue collaborating to strengthen security and economic development in the region, and reviewed growth opportunities for the state in areas such as trade and investment, education and culture, among others.

Also during the working tour, the consul met with the president of the Chihuahua Congress, Congresswoman Adriana Terrazas, to discuss the efforts of the Congress to promote the prosperity and well-being of the people of Chihuahua. Also present at the meeting were Congresswomen Ivonne Salazar Morales, Edgar José Piñón Domínguez and Noel Chávez Velázquez.

A meeting was also held with the president of the State Superior Court of Justice, Judge Myriam Hernandez, which focused on the administration of justice and the preservation of the rule of law in the region.

Foley also met with leaders and representatives of the indigenous community, participating in a meaningful discussion that addressed issues such as access to educational and employment opportunities and human rights.

Another meeting was with Sergio Xavier Ruiz Perez, commander of the Roberto Fierro International Airport, and later with representatives of INDEX in Chihuahua, with whom he discussed strengthening supply chains and boosting economic competitiveness.
