Universities in Juarez seek to strengthen border industry

JUAREZ, CHIH - As part of the Second Juarez Talent Forum 2024, public and private universities of the border signed a collaboration agreement to promote the development of skills and abilities among students of different educational levels to ensure better job opportunities upon graduation.

Under the vision of “training trainers”, the participants agreed to certify 100 teachers of higher education in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, with the objective that these in turn, promote the development of talent and knowledge in areas of high added value among the student community.

In addition, during the meeting it was agreed to integrate and validate elective subjects and digital content in compliance with the objectives outlined by the “Skills Matrix”, which was carried out among industry leaders, the Government of Chihuahua, academia and civil society.

The strategy seeks to integrate the knowledge required by the manufacturing sector to the educational content, considering the growth that this industry has seen with the arrival of new operations, as a result of the nearshoring phenomenon.

During the signing of the document, they highlighted that the implementation of support such as the Graduate Scholarship Program at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), the Technological Talent Training Program, the Chihuahua Talent Platform, the Specialized Training Program for the Development of Talent in the Automotive Industry, the Linkage Program for the Development of Teaching Talent and internationalization programs will continue.

The Talent Forum was held with the objective of establishing solid connections between companies, universities and associations dedicated to the development of talent in the border region.
