Vehicle sales in Mexico fall 23.5%

MEXICO – 95,485 new vehicles were sold in Mexico in November, 23.5% less than that registered in the same period last year, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) reported.

This is the largest negative change for an eleventh month in 25 years, in addition to being the lowest volume of cars sold also for a November since 2012. However, compared to its immediately previous month, it rose 13.3%, which means that it is the largest increase since July of this year, when it had an increase of 16% compared to June of the same year.

Nissan, the leader market, reported in the eleventh month of this year the sale of 18,428 vehicles, 27.8% higher than that registered in the same month of 2019, while General Motors -the second largest seller- reported a reduction of 30.1%, and Volkswagen, 24.3%. In accumulated figures, between January and November 843,986 vehicles were sold in Mexico, 28.9% below that registered in the same period of 2019, being the lowest volume for a similar period since 2012.
