Vitro to invest US$ 55 million on recently acquired Texas plant

Mexico-based Vitro Glass Company plans to invest US$ 55 million on an expansion project for its recently-acquired plant located in Wichita Falls, Texas, after city officials offered a US$ 3 million incentive package.

Vitro will install a new coater at the facility to make commercial glass larger than 12 feet tall, a product of growing demand in the construction industry. The new machinery should be up and running by April 2018.

The expansion project will also include construction of a new 200,000-square-foot building on the site and is expected to create 50 new jobs in this northern Texas area.

Dick Beuke, president of the Monterrey-based glass manufacturer, said the project will position the company as an industry leader, innovator and architect resource.
