Volkswagen updates the 2027 Teramont
Volkswagen is seeking to strengthen its presence in the segment of larger higher-priced SUVs, in Mexico with the second generation of the Teramont, a model that will be the top-of-the-line offering in its national lineup.
The 2027 model features design changes, mechanical upgrades, and enhanced technological capabilities in a market where approximately four out of every 10 vehicles sold have this type of body style.
The German automaker describes the Teramont as a vehicle that combines high-end features with a strategy focused on sales volume.
“We’re listening to what the markets are saying, and this trend is being followed globally… It sounds a little strange, but it’s a premium volume vehicle,” said Carlos Henry, CEO of Volkswagen Mexico.
With this proposal, the company hopes to cater to consumers who prioritize interior space, versatility, and features, as well as to expand its market share in one of the most competitive segments of the automotive industry.
The Teramont first entered the Mexican market in July 2018, when Volkswagen sold 40 units. This second generation continues to target families who need more space and flexibility, but incorporates changes to the platform, powertrain, and driver-assistance systems.
