Volvo to break ground for heavy truck plant
NUEVO LEON - Volvo Group of North America, a heavy truck manufacturer, announced in a press release that the opening ceremony of its new assembly plant will be held on October 15 at the GP Industrial Norte Park, located in the municipality of Ciénega de Flores, Nuevo Leon.
“Join us at the inaugural ceremony of the company's latest capital investment on Tuesday, October 15 at the GP Industrial Norte Park in Ciénega de Flores,” the release detailed.
As will be recalled last August 23, Volvo Group announced that it would make a US$700 million investment in a plant in the state of Nuevo Leon, focused on the production of heavy vehicles for Volvo and Mack, as had been communicated last April 11.
“The plant will complement the group's U.S. production and provide additional capacity to support Volvo Trucks' and Mack Trucks' growth plans in the U.S. and Canadian markets, as well as new Mack truck sales in Mexico and Latin America. The assembly plant is expected to be operational in 2026,” said the statement sent from its headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The land on which the heavy truck plant will be located is 1.7 million square feet (157,935 square meters).
