WEG to expand its business in Mexico and Brazil
MEXICO - Brazilian motor manufacturer WEG announced that it will invest around US$122 million over the next five years to expand its capacity and vertically integrate its transformer and electric motor businesses in Mexico and Brazil.
In Mexico, WEG plans to build a new building and purchase equipment for wire production in the city of Atotonilco de Tula, with investments estimated at about US$61.3 million.
The objective is to meet current and expected demand for wires and cables used in the transformer and electric motor businesses in North America,” the company said.
In Brazil, meanwhile, the company will invest approximately US$60 million to expand its Itajai and Guaramirim plants to meet the demand for transformers in Latin America's largest economy.
