World’s largest car ship arrives in Mexico

The Port of Lazaro Cardenas marked a new milestone for Mexican foreign trade with the arrival of the GLOVIS LEADER, considered the world’s largest car carrier in its class. The vessel conducted commercial operations at the Specialized Automobile Terminal operated by SSA Marine Mexico, an event that reinforces the Michoacan port’s position as one of the most important logistics hubs in the Americas.
The arrival of the GLOVIS LEADER confirms the operational capacity and infrastructure of the Port of Lazaro Cardenas, recognized as Mexico’s deepest port. Its navigation channels and maneuvering areas allow it to accommodate large vessels that are part of the new generation of the global merchant marine.
As part of the welcome ceremony, representatives from the Lazaro Cardenas National Port System Administration (ASIPONA) and SSA Marine Mexico boarded the vessel to present a commemorative plaque to the ship’s captain. The ceremony symbolized the confidence of international shipping lines in the efficiency, safety, and competitiveness of the Mexican port.
