99,000 jobs generated by FDI in Mexico by 2024
MEXICO - From January to September 2024, the Mexican private sector announced 209 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects for a total of US$64 billion, which will result in the creation of more than 99,700 jobs, according to the Ministry of Economy.
More than 70% of these jobs will be concentrated in 15 states of the country, where 28,707 new jobs are expected to be generated. Among the states with the greatest employment potential are Coahuila, Querétaro and Nuevo León, which together will create 33,617 new jobs.
The manufacturing sector is the main beneficiary of these investments, representing 56% of the public announcements. Within this sector, the beverage (42%), automobile (18%), auto parts (13%), iron and steel (9%) and aerospace equipment (2%) industries are the leaders in job creation expectations.
Particularly, the automotive industry will be a significant driver, concentrating 44% of total job creation, which is equivalent to 43,842 new direct jobs. The Ministry of Economy also emphasized that the committed investment will take place over a period of two to three years.
