Tamaulipas producers seek new markets in the United States

McALLEN, TX - A group of 20 Tamaulipas producers are participating in a trade mission and export seminar in McAllen, Texas, with the objective of finding new markets for their agri-food products.

The Secretary of Rural Development, Fisheries and Aquaculture of Tamaulipas, Dámaso Anaya Alvarado, headed the Tamaulipas delegation, which represents producers from the municipalities of Altamira, Reynosa, Burgos, Llera, San Nicolás, Padilla, González, Casas, Soto La Marina, Jaumave and Camargo.

During the event, the producers received training on the processes for exporting their products to the United States. They also participated in meetings with potential buyers to explore business opportunities.

Products being promoted include chili peppers, tomatoes, onions, value-added products based on nopal, sesame oil, citrus, aloe, mezcal, garlic, charcoal, honey, oregano and wood.

"The State Government seeks to make a very close link with producers and take advantage of the spaces provided to us, as well as the resources that have allowed us to establish a friendship for a common purpose so that families have a better welfare," said Anaya Alvarado.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Rural Development, Fisheries and Aquaculture of Tamaulipas, in coordination with the Mexican Consulate in McAllen.
