Index Chihuahua Celebrates its 40th Anniversary

CHIHUAHUA - The Association of Maquiladoras and Exporters of Chihuahua A.C. (Index Chihuahua) held its 40th anniversary ceremony, where the impact of the industry in the capital city was recognized.

The mayor of Chihuahua, Marco Bonilla, acknowledged that in these 40 years, INDEX Chihuahua has evolved along with the industry and has been one of the main engines of growth in the region, which includes companies from Cuauhtémoc, Delicias, Camargo and Chihuahua Capital. 

He also acknowledged that INDEX has had a great impact on the capital, and has played a very important role in the economic development of the city. 

“This industry has been and is an economic pillar for our region, generating employment, investment and, above all, development opportunities. For all this, thanks also to INDEX and all its associates, because in this time we have managed to strengthen the ties between companies, government and community, building together a prosperous and shared future,” expressed Marco Bonilla. 

On the other hand, he shared that throughout these four decades, the maquiladora industry has transformed the environment, creating thousands of quality jobs, diversifying the economy and positioning Chihuahua on the global map of export manufacturing. 

In turn, Bonilla emphasized that the municipal government will continue working together with INDEX Chihuahua to promote growth and innovation, while continuing with the objective of generating the necessary conditions for the maquiladora industry to continue to be a source of employment and well-being for the people of Chihuahua.
