General Motors and Toluca’s government sign agreement to strengthen industrial zone

The municipal government of Toluca signed a collaboration agreement with General Motors Mexico (GMM), with the objective of joining efforts in the recovery of public spaces, strengthening security in industrial zones and promoting the economic development of the capital of the state of Mexico.
During the event, Municipal President Ricardo Moreno Bastida emphasized that the city has an industrial vocation backed by the quality of the local labor force, which makes it an attractive destination for investment.
“There will be no abandonment of industry as before,” said the mayor, who also pledged to hold regular meetings with the productive sector.
The signing of the agreement took place in conjunction with Artemio Ruiz Martínez, director of GMM's Toluca complex, who was accompanied by the company's government relations manager, Angelina Vidal León. Both reiterated the commitment of the U.S. assembler with the municipality to work together and improve the living conditions of the population, as well as boosting the local economy.
The agreement is part of the “Toluca se pone guapa” program, which contemplates actions such as reforestation, rehabilitation of parkways and plazas, as well as the installation of lighting in industrial zones. In terms of security, the mayor assured that operations have already been implemented that have reduced the incidence of crime in key areas.
In addition, Moreno Bastida highlighted the program Yo pongo guapa a Toluca, which has allowed the recovery of nearly 300 public spaces thanks to the joint work between citizens and public servants.
Ana Yolanda Esquivel Jaramillo, general director of Economic Development, pointed out that the rapprochement with GMM began in January, with the aim of consolidating the relationship with this company, which has been operating in Toluca since 1965 and generates close to 2 thousand direct jobs. This agreement represents the fifth in a series of agreements planned to strengthen Toluca as a capital of opportunities and progress.
The municipal authorities also toured GMM's facilities in Toluca, as part of the strengthening of institutional ties with one of the most important companies in the global automotive sector.
