Tetra Pak invests in Mexicali

Tetra Pak Mexico reaffirmed its commitment to the domestic industry by modernizing and expanding its plant in Mexicali, which specializes in the production of container caps. This facility has established itself as a global benchmark in operational efficiency, advanced technology, and sustainability.

With an investment of US$39.1 million, the plant's production capacity increased by 40% by expanding its surface area to 16,000 m², with an additional expansion of 2,000 m². More than 90% of its production supplies the Mexican market, in addition to exports to the United States, Canada, and Central America, positioning it as a strategic point within the regional supply network.

One of the highlights is that 20% of the caps produced at this plant are made from plant-based polymers, which contributes to reducing the carbon footprint of packaging and responds to the demand for sustainable solutions in the industry.

“Producing in Mexico allows us to be closer to our customers, respond quickly, reduce logistical risks, and minimize our carbon footprint by avoiding unnecessary inter-oceanic shipments. Mexicali represents the specialization, innovation, and export capacity that define Tetra Pak Mexico,” Ramiro Ortiz, general manager of Tetra Pak Mexico, said.

In addition to Mexicali, the company has strategic facilities in Querétaro and the State of Mexico, which have also been developed with a long-term vision that focuses on local production and sustainability.

With these actions, Tetra Pak Mexico contributes to strengthening the industry, consolidating its position as a strategic partner for the domestic and international markets.

The Tetra Pak plant in Mexicali has established itself as a key hub in the company's regional supply network, specializing in the manufacture of caps with high standards of efficiency, technology, and sustainability.

Currently, more than 90% of its production supplies the Mexican market and other countries such as the United States, Canada, and Central America, underscoring its relevance in international trade.

Tetra Pak is a world leader in food processing and packaging solutions. In Mexico, its operations have been characterized by integrating technological innovation, sustainable production, and customer proximity, strengthening the food sector's value chain for more than four decades.
