USMCA Review Puts Mexico–U.S. Cooperation in Focus

The upcoming review of the North American trade agreement presents both challenges and opportunities, according to Katherine Tai, who emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between Mexico and the United States.
Speaking on the future of the agreement, the official highlighted that the review process should not be seen solely as a risk, but as a chance to strengthen regional integration and address key issues such as labor standards, supply chains, and fair competition.
She noted that collaboration between both countries has improved in recent years, particularly in resolving disputes through established mechanisms. This, she said, reflects a more mature trade relationship under the current framework.
The review of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement is expected to play a critical role in shaping North America’s economic future, especially as global trade dynamics continue to evolve.
While some sectors remain cautious about potential changes, the overall outlook suggests that constructive dialogue and cooperation could help reinforce the agreement and ensure long-term stability for businesses operating across the region.
