Silao City Council approves budget for the state

After a three-month financial stalemate, the Silao City Council finally approved the 2026 expenditure budget, which totals more than US$102 million.
The Silao administration was the only one among the 46 municipalities that did not yet have a budget; this situation had been hindering the execution of public works, the implementation of programs, and the purchase of patrol cars.
Mayor Melanie Murillo Chavez and Treasurer Ricardo Corona Mendez held a meeting prior to the session to issue their statement, during which they agreed with the council members on the allocation of funds.
“Our budget has grown by 35%; this is a very significant figure, and it is thanks to tax revenue and the orderly and transparent work of the Treasury,” the mayor emphasized.
The 2025 budget was nearly US$61 million, and this year’s budget increased to US$102 million.
“The increase will be used to address issues related to education, sports, security, rural areas, public works, and the payment of civil servant pensions,” the mayor noted.
