Mexico & South Korea establish strategic partnership

Marcelo Ebrard, Secretary of the Economy, and Yeo Han-koo, Minister of Trade of the Republic of Korea, agreed to establish a strategic ministerial dialogue and a specialized working group to modernize trade and investment relations between the two countries.
During a meeting held in Mexico City, the two officials reviewed the status of economic cooperation between Mexico and South Korea, as well as trade flows. They also noted that they plan to strengthen coordination and communication mechanisms to protect supply chains, maintain stable conditions, and provide certainty for bilateral investments.
Mexico and South Korea agreed that Korean investments in the country play a significant role within regional manufacturing chains, particularly in industries linked to the automotive, electronics, auto parts, technology, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
The ministers agreed to strengthen bilateral consultations to ensure that the interests of Korean companies established in Mexico are taken into account during the USMCA review process. The economic relationship between Mexico and South Korea has continued to grow in recent years through industrial and manufacturing investments, especially in sectors related to exports, technology, and production for the North American market.
