Chemtec: Committed to nanotechnology for industrial paints

Chemtec develops chemical technologies focused on transforming metal surface treatment and industrial coating systems through nanotechnology solutions and processes with low environmental impact.

During an interview, Carlo Guidetti, a representative of Chemtec, explained that the company has specialized in innovations for an industry that has historically relied on technologies dating back more than five decades.

“In our industry, there aren’t many innovations. Most industrial pretreatment systems are based on legacy technologies that are over 50 years old, such as phosphating,” he said.

The executive noted that, although these traditional systems continue to function, they have significant limitations related to water consumption, waste generation, and energy use.

“These technologies work well, but they have many limitations. They require a lot of water, contain heavy metals, create sludge, require significant maintenance, and, above all, consume a great deal of energy,” he stated.

Among the main technologies is Torran 3 Platformization, a nanotechnology solution designed to replace traditional processes such as iron phosphate and, in some cases, zinc phosphate.

Another benefit highlighted by Chemtec is the significant reduction in energy consumption, as the system operates at room temperature. “It’s a product that works at room temperature, so there’s no need to heat the liquid, which means a complete elimination of electricity costs,” he explained.
