Nuevo Laredo leads Mexican customs

According to data from the Trade Insights report, the Nuevo Laredo customs office processed a total of 1.7 million customs transactions and collected a total of US$3.7 billion in revenue, confirming the strategic hub as one of the most reliable, efficient, and best-connected locations with the highest security for North American supply chains.
Experts attribute this trend to macroeconomic factors, operational changes, and the implementation of the tariff exemption schemes in place under the USMCA.
Nuevo Laredo’s leadership in road transport and logistics aligns with the structure of goods movement in Mexico. The report details that road transport accounts for 71.5% of exports and 48.6% of domestic imports, establishing itself as the primary means of international trade.
Beyond the northern border, the country’s logistics map reveals other strategic growth hubs.
The Manzanillo customs office, seaport, and tax revenue collection reaffirmed its leadership as the country’s top port in terms of container traffic and tax revenue, playing a key role in the import of industrial inputs from the Asia-Pacific region.
The combined growth of these logistics hubs, along with modernization and foreign trade, demonstrates that Mexico’s logistics platform continues to diversify. The modernization of inspection points and the complementary nature of ports, airports, and land customs facilities enhance the agility demanded by the global economy.
