Safran opens its 13th plant in Chihuahua

Safran, through its Electrical & Power ISA division, has opened its fifth plant in the city of Chihuahua and its 13th in the state. This expansion represented an investment of US$7.4 million and created 800 new jobs.

Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos highlighted that the project represents a vote of confidence by the company in the state and its business environment.

The facilities were designed with a focus on sustainability; the plant will operate on 100% green energy and incorporate electric climate control systems—measures aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of its operations.

Safran’s Electrical & Power division maintains a significant presence in Chihuahua, where it employs 5,300 people. From its facilities in the state, it produces 95% of the electrical wiring used in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and is home to the company’s largest aeronautical wiring manufacturing center worldwide.

With this expansion, Safran is strengthening its manufacturing capacity in a state that has established itself as one of Mexico’s leading aerospace hubs. According to data shared during the inauguration, Chihuahua accounts for 36% of the country’s gross domestic production in the aerospace sector, reinforcing its position as a leader in this industry.
