Production of the KIA EV3 electric vehicle has begun in Nuevo León.

KIA Mexico has begun production of the EV3, the brand's first 100% electric vehicle manufactured in the country, at its plant in Pesquería, Nuevo León.

The start of production of the EV3 marks the beginning of a new era for KIA Mexico, as it becomes the brand’s first all-electric model produced in Mexico.

For his part, Horacio Chávez, Managing Director of KIA Mexico, noted that the decision to manufacture the EV3 in Mexico reflects KIA Corporation’s confidence in the country and in the capabilities developed by the Pesquería plant.

Chávez also noted that electric vehicle production is becoming more regionally focused and aims to cater to the preferences of each market, as in the case of Mexico, where the SUV segment has tripled in the last five years and has become the largest segment in the domestic market.

In this context, the EV3 has been selected for local production with the goal of making electric mobility accessible to a larger number of Mexican consumers.

In addition, Jorge Murakami, director of marketing at KIA Mexico, stated that the EV3 was designed to make electric mobility more accessible, practical, and reliable for the Mexican market.
