CFE will invest US$75.5 million in Querétaro

The director general of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), Emilia Esther Calleja, announced that the state-owned company is considering an investment of US$75.5 million in Querétaro, which will be used to meet growing energy needs through 758 projects, according to the state government.

During a working group meeting led by Governor Mauricio Kuri Gonzalez and attended by representatives from various municipalities in the state, Esther Calleja emphasized that substations would be built and expanded, in addition to upgrading the power grid. It is also expected that more than US$382.4 million will be allocated to smart grid projects and various transmission lines.

The state governor described the meeting as historic and expressed his gratitude for the CFE’s responsiveness, presence, and willingness to engage and work closely and collaboratively with the state and its municipalities.

During his remarks, Secretary of Sustainable Development Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero noted that the coordination committees established with the CFE have succeeded in reducing power outages by up to 25 percent, according to the agency’s figures.

Finally, representatives from municipal governments presented specific cases and the challenges their communities face regarding energy distribution, and federal and state authorities have committed to addressing and reviewing each situation to provide a timely solution.
