Jalisco is seeking suppliers from major U.S. manufacturers

Jalisco's industrial parks are seeking to attract suppliers to large manufacturing companies based in the United States, with the goal of strengthening supply chains and consolidating the local industrial ecosystem.

Upon assuming the presidency of the Jalisco State Industrial Parks Association (APIEJ), Roberto Alvarez Silva explained that during his term, efforts will focus on trade missions that promote the state and identify companies with the potential to set up operations there.

The first will take place in October, during SEMICON West in San Francisco, California, leading up to March 2027. The association has scheduled a tour of Asia, with visits to Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea; meanwhile, Germany is also one of the destinations being considered for a mission focused on the automotive sector.

The president of APIEJ clarified that current demand is focused on large-scale parks, due to the space and energy needs of sectors such as electronics manufacturing and logistics.

However, according to Bruno Martinez Zurita, outgoing president of APIEJ, this strategy is not aimed at competing to attract large anchor companies, but rather their suppliers. He notes that supplier companies currently operating in Mexico’s northern neighbor could benefit from establishing themselves in Mexico, thereby reducing distances and simplifying logistics with their customers.

According to APIEJ, the industrial market has continued to perform well, despite the uncertainty caused by factors such as the USMCA, U.S. tariff policy, and global geopolitical conflicts.
