Efforts Are Underway to Create the National Aviation Industry Council in Mexico

More than 250 business leaders, professionals, and representatives of organizations involved in air transport have proposed the idea of forming a National Aviation Industry Council, whose purpose would be to establish a diverse, inclusive, and professional representative body to support the development of Mexican aviation.

The initiative was presented during the First Grand Gala Dinner for Aviation Industry Leaders, held in Mexico City, with representatives from more than 70 specialized companies, government officials, and industry organizations in attendance.

According to the organizers, the council hopes to create a shared forum that identifies and addresses the issues that have limited the growth of the national aviation industry for years; it also aims to strengthen dialogue between the private and professional sectors and the authorities.

One of the first steps planned is to conduct an assessment of the current state of the Mexican aviation industry across its various segments. The goal of this analysis is to establish priorities and a roadmap that integrates the needs of companies, organizations, professionals, and institutions.

“The call for Aviation Industry Leaders to form this council is an extremely important step toward unifying the voice of the aviation industry,” said Héctor Dávila, general coordinator of Aviation Industry Leaders.

The representative also emphasized that the goal of this call for proposals is to leverage the experience gained in the sector to strengthen institutions, improve the legal framework, promote training, and foster a culture of aviation.

Davila emphasized that the eventual formation of the Council would also make it possible to establish a broader dialogue with authorities responsible for air transport and with agencies such as the Ministries of Tourism, Economy, Defense, and Finance. The goal is to move toward “the long-sought objective of having a different public policy on aviation.”

The process for organizing this council will continue with a meeting led by a group of coordinators, during which working groups will be established to focus on business aviation, private aviation, education and training, maintenance and services, helicopters, airports and infrastructure, technological development, public transportation, the aviation industry, and air sports.
