Cummins Expands Its Operational Capacity in San Luis Potosí

Cummins' Mexico Logistics Center (MLC), located in San Luis Potosí, has increased its operational capacity over its first 10 years of operation, thanks to the reorganization of space, the implementation of technology, and process improvements.

The center began operations in 2016 under the name XBU Logistics Center, with an investment of US$23 million. Since then, more than an additional 10 million dollars have been allocated to technology projects, facility improvements, security, and route optimization.

These investments supported the growth of the company's manufacturing, distribution, and service operations in Mexico, enabling it to increase the complex's capacity and ensure the supply of components.

Today, MLC occupies an area of 40,000 m² and has a staff of 160 employees. In addition to managing more than 60,000 part numbers, it also coordinates daily logistics operations to supply components for Cummins Mexico’s operations.

The center serves the New and ReComn Parts and Power Systems business units and holds AEO-CTPAT, ISO 9001:2015 (quality), ISO 14001:2015 (environmental management), and ISO 45001:2018 (occupational health and safety) certifications.

According to Cummins, the Mexico Logistics Center is one of the company's key distribution centers in Latin America, due to its role in supplying components and solutions to customers throughout the region.

With an operational capacity 40% greater than when it first opened, a floor area of 40,000 square meters, 160 employees, and the management of more than 60,000 part numbers, the MLC continues to serve as a link between Cummins’ component supply, manufacturing operations, and distribution in Mexico.
