Puerto Vallarta Airport Begins Gradual Reopening
Due to improved weather conditions following Hurricane Simon, the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) has confirmed the gradual resumption of operations at Puerto Vallarta International Airport.
Following the coordination meeting with the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) and Mexican Airspace Navigation Services (SENEAM), it was decided to star the reopening of Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) in two phases.
Since the airport has been fully designated for use exclusively by official aircraft. Meanwhile, it is scheduled to reopen for all types of operations, including commercial flights, in October 2026.
Because of this, the resumption of flights depends on each airline's schedule; GAP recommends that passengers check directly with their airline regarding the status and schedule of their flight before heading to the airport.
Puerto Vallarta International Airport remained closed after Hurricane Simon made landfall along its coast this October.
