AIQ Reports a 26.6% Increase in Air Cargo
Querétaro International Airport (AIQ) handled 6,972.3 metric tons of cargo in August, marking a 16.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
This progress observed at the Querétaro terminal is the result of sustained, double-digit growth in international cargo, coupled with a recovery in domestic cargo following two months of year-over-year declines.
It was reported that 4,731.4 metric tons of domestic cargo were transported in August of this year, representing a 23.2% increase compared to last year.
As for international traffic, it reached 2,239.9 metric tons, representing a 24.5% increase—the largest year-over-year increase recorded so far this year—and continuing the double-digit growth trend observed in recent months. Thanks to this increase, AIQ has ranked among the top five airports with the highest growth in this segment.
By segment, in domestic cargo, the Querétaro terminal handled 39,045.8 metric tons in the first eight months of the year, up 5% from last year, and ranked as the airport with the highest volume in that segment.
International cargo totaled 15,809.8 metric tons transported through AIQ, an increase of 12.1% compared to the January–August period last year. It was the fifth-largest airport by tonnage, accounting for 2.7% of the total.
