Yucatán ranked fifth nationally in industrial growth

Industrial activity in Yucatán increased by 7.5% in June 2026 compared to the same period last year, placing it fifth among the country’s 32 states in terms of performance, according to the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity by State (IMAIEF) from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), the state government reported.

According to preliminary figures, the increase was 9.8%, compared with the national growth rate of 1.6%. Furthermore, Yucatán was the only state on the Peninsula to post annual growth, and it also grew by 1.8% compared with May, when it recorded an annual increase of 4.2%.

The state's four industrial sectors exceeded the national average in June. The miningsector grew by 23.1%, compared with 6.6% nationally; the electricity, water, and gas generation sector rose by 17.7%, compared with 0.8% nationwide, placing the state second nationally in this category.

Meanwhile, construction rose 13.2%, compared with 4.7% nationwide, while manufacturing grew 3.9%, compared with 0.1% nationwide.

The state government noted that the increase in construction coincides with public works and housing projects. The National Workers’ Housing Fund Institute (Infonavit) has contracted for 40,000 homes in the state and has another 15,000 planned for the coming months, as part of a goal of 72,770 homes during the six-year term.
