The BMW iX3 Makes a Strong Debut in the United States

The BMW iX3, the first model in the German automaker’s new generation of electric vehicles, the Neue Klasse, got off to a strong start in the U.S. market, outperforming key rivals during the third quarter.

The Bavarian automaker reported in its latest quarterly report that it delivered 1,101 units in the United States—a volume that exceeds that of the Porsche Macan EV, of which 1,023 units were sold over the past three months.

BMW’s figure is even more significant when one considers that deliveries of the iX3 began as recently as September—meaning the data reflects only the last month.

The iX3 not only outperformed the brand’s other electric models—with the exception of the i4, of which 2,539 units were sold—but also the Audi Q6 e-tron (810), the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric (341), and the Genesis Electrified GV70 (163). However, it still lags far behind the undisputed leader in the segment, the Tesla Model Y, whose sales totaled nearly 100,000 units (99,037), according to Cox Automotive.

In Mexico, BMW reported selling the first 100 units between June, July, and August.
