Anáhuac Puebla Students Advance Aerospace Innovation

Students from the Mechatronics Engineering program at Anáhuac Puebla University showcased their talent and innovation at the IPN 2026 Hidrochallenge, where the IGNIS UAP team won second place in the Hydro-Propelled Multistage Rocket category, demonstrating their knowledge of engineering, design, and aerospace technology.

Comprising Renata Chavarri Mendoza, Ángel Didier Torres Torres, and Enrique Yáñez Sánchez, the team represented the university in the competition’s fifth edition, organized by the Aerospace Development Center of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) at the Center for Innovation and Integration of Advanced Technologies (CIITA) in San José Chiapa, Puebla.

A total of 75 teams registered in the category, of which only 39 passed the initial evaluation phase. During this stage, IGNIS UAP scored 100 points, enabling it to advance through a selection process that assessed the technical feasibility, planning, and development of each project.

The challenge involved designing, building, and launching a multistage rocket powered by water and compressed air. The rocket had to feature at least two stages and be capable of carrying and deploying a payload to complete a mission involving Earth observation and atmospheric measurements.

IGNIS UAP’s achievement is particularly noteworthy given the competition’s high level of participation, which brought together students from educational institutions in Mexico and abroad. The event promotes aerospace technology development and the practical application of scientific knowledge.

Through this achievement, Anáhuac Puebla University reaffirms its commitment to academic training that fosters innovation, applied research, and talent development in strategic engineering fields. The competition also gave students the opportunity to apply their knowledge beyond the classroom and take part in high-level technological challenges.
