In 2015, the Interjet airline registered the youngest fleet of Mexico with an average age of 6 years, reason why Jose Luis Garza, Interjet's General Director, approves the initiative proposed by the Transport Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, to not allow the airlines to operate airplanes with an age of over 20 years, and if it is done so, sanctions should be implemented. On this regard, Mr. Garza stated that the oldest aircrafts operating are 2000 model, from when the Toluca's International Airport started operations. Also, 9 airplanes are expected to be added to the fleet, 6 of which will be Airbus A320 model, and 3 will be A321, increasing from 63 to 71 units that the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) documented for the airline.
