MEXICO Starting in May, Aeroméxico will add two new flights to South America traveling from Mexico City to Guayaquil, Ecuador and Cali, Colombia.

The trip to Guayaquil, the second destination in Ecuador for the airline, will be carried out in a B737-800, with a capacity of 160 passengers, 16 of them in premier class; while the flight to the coffee city (third, in addition to Bogota and Medellín), will be held in a B737-700, with availability for 124 users, 11 of them in Premier class.

"At Aeroméxico we are very proud to offer Mexicans and connecting passengers a greater offer to new Latin American destinations. We currently have more than 20 years with presence in South America flying to seven cities, which positions us as the airline in Mexico with the largest presence in the region, "said Anko van der Werff, executive vice president of commercial marketing for the airline.

Through a statement, Aeroméxico mentioned about the 93 destinations that it already operates; 50 of them are international and fly into three continents. It was also pointed out that these flights represent the effort to increase connectivity, as well as a tourist and economic exchange between nations involved.

With this pair of new destinations, Aeromexico has announced three international routes so far in 2019: it will also fly to Barcelona, Spain, starting next June 15. During 2018, the largest operator in Mexico transported almost 21.9 million passengers, a year-over-year growth of 5.9%, consolidating as the main airline for the country in the international segment and second in the domestic segment, behind Volaris.
