Aguascalientes has potential for nearshoring

AGUASCALIENTES - The Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO) identified the state of Aguascalientes as one of the 3 most attractive in the country for nearshoring.

According to the study “Nearshoring, priorities for regional development”, the state shares this ranking with the states of Nuevo Leon and Coahuila.

The document measured 21 variables in four major sectors: labor market, housing and services, basic inputs, and regulatory environment.

In the case of the labor market, IMCO analyzed items such as informality rate, labor force, monthly income, English proficiency, universities, among others.

Regarding housing and services, the study considered data on real estate production, access to water, energy and drainage, as well as public transportation.

Regarding basic inputs, IMCO verified information on wastewater treatment plants, electricity prices, among others.

In terms of the regulatory environment, the items of crime prevalence, investment attraction and efficiency of the regulatory framework were considered.
