Chinese manufacturer Daimay Automotive Interior recently broke ground in the municipality of Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, Northern Mexico, to build its second manufacturing plant in the region.
The company plans to build a 23,250-square-meter (250,260 sq.-ft.) facility at the Finsa Coahuila industrial park and will open 750 job positions in order to start operations. State officials claim a total US$86-million will be allocated to this project.
The building is expected to be completed by August followed by tooling and test runs for the rest of the year aiming to start operations in January 2020.
Last year, Daimay Automotive started operations in Ramos Arizpe through the acquisition of Motus Integrated Technologies, which operated a 300,000 sq.-ft. facility with 850 workers.
The company manufactures sun visors, seats, headrests, steering wheels, roof and central consoles for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as Honda, Toyota, Ford, Subaru and BMW.
According to local media, Daimay has plans to build a third facility right across the street in a piece of land where heavy machinery can already be seen leveling the ground.
The amount of investment and job openings for the third plant is still under review.
