Customs brokers, key factor in competitiveness

The Mexican National Customs Agency (ANAM) recognized the strategic role that customs brokers play in institutional strengthening, trade facilitation, and the country’s competitiveness during the celebration of the 88th anniversary of the Confederation of Customs Brokers’ Associations of the Mexican Republic (CAAAREM).

During the event, Cesar Hernandez, a representative of ANAM, highlighted the importance of customs brokers in Mexico’s foreign trade operations and their contribution to the functioning of the national customs system.

For his part, Jose Ignacio Zaragoza, president of CAAAREM, reiterated the association’s commitment to modernizing the customs system through the digitization of processes, strengthening the traceability of operations, and implementing self-regulation mechanisms.

The leader emphasized that the evolution of the customs system is a key factor in strengthening Mexico’s competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic and demanding international environment. He also underscored the importance of capitalizing on opportunities arising from global trade through more efficient and secure processes.

As part of this strategy, the organization will continue to promote the professionalization of the sector and the adoption of new technologies that optimize import and export activities.

Eighty-eight years after its founding, CAAAREM highlighted progress in the development of digital tools focused on modernizing customs processes. Among these are the Manifiesta platform for the Electronic Declaration of Value (MVE), as well as the Control Total and Verifica systems, solutions currently in operation at the country’s 50 customs offices.
