MEXICO — Recently, the General Direction of Civil Aviation (DGAC) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) signed a collaboration agreement in order for Mexico and the European Union to promote different opportunity areas in the country, especially verification of manufacturing activity, said Rodrigo Vásquez Colmenares, director of the DGAC.
He stated that one of the objectives of said agreement is to promote the development of opportunities for the aerospace industry in Mexico as well as to harmonize Mexican regulations so they can be linked to European standards.
The agreement was signed in the presence of the undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT) Carlos Morán; Klaus Rudischhauser, the European Union ambassador to Mexico and Patrick Ky, executive director of EASA.
"Being standardized with the European norms, gives our national industry the chance to access processes without the need to carry out a certification outside the border since standards and processes will be homologated with theindustry demands, "Vásquez Colmenares explained.
Finally, he added that this is the first time EASA signs a collaboration agreement with some Latin American government, which turns Mexico into a pioneer of regulatory standardization opportunities with Europe.
